Hamid Mohd Isa is a former senior lecturer and researcher in the Centre for Global Archaeological Research (CGAR), Universiti Sains Malaysia. His academic background include a Diploma in Public Administration from ITM, BA in Anthropology & Sociology from USM, MA and PhD in Archaeology both from USM. As a lecturer he involved in teaching undergraduated students as well as supervision of post graduated. His fields of interest is in ethnoarchaeology, ethnography of the Orang Asli and indigeneous peoples, prehistoric archaeology and museology. He has received several national and university research grants in archaeology and ethnoarchaeological research which included university-community networking projects. Among his research is the Ethnography of the Orang Asli, the Archaeology of the Orang Asli, the Jahai contemporary hunters and gatherers in Belum-Temenggor rainforest, the material culture of the Orang Asli, the burial and ritual practices of the Orang Asli, the Palaeolithic site of Kota Tampan, and as a co-reseacher for the development of Sungai Batu Archaeological sites for the Department of National Heritage. He is also appointed as dossier writer for the nomination of Lenggong Valley as UNESCO world heritage site for the Department of National Heritage.

Apart from archaeology and ethnoarchaeology reseach, he is also involved in university-community engagement project, among them was a two years community project in an Orang Asli villages which involved giving free tuition to the Orang Asli childrens and a project which involved conservation and preservation of Orang Asli material cultures. Other community project was as a co-reseacher for Knowledge Transfer Programme project in Sungai Batu archaeological site. His research findings have been published in several books, chapter in books, journals, proceedings, conference papers as well as teaching module.
